I remember consulting a brand strategist who asked me, “What’s the story behind your brand? Why would someone buy from you?”
And I went blank.
There wasn’t a single moment when Shuchi Man was born. No dramatic turning point, no childhood dream of becoming a fashion entrepreneur, no grand story.
Honestly, I simply wanted to kick-start my entrepreneurial journey.
My critical mind, of course, had plenty to say. Fashion is a saturated market. The big players are NIFT graduates and people who eat, sleep and breathe fashion. I had no formal fashion background.
But I was delusional enough to give it a shot anyway.
It started in September 2025. Lakhs were spent. A lot of time and effort went into it. And somewhere along the way, I realised I didn’t like the direction it was taking.
So I recoiled.
Not to quit. Just to step back, rethink and come back better — with more research, better designs and fabrics, a clearer brand identity, and all the necessary registrations in place.
So, as I write this at the time of Shuchi Man’s relaunch in May 2026, I still don’t have an interesting story about how it began.
And I don’t want to fake one.
But give me a few years, and I’m pretty sure I’ll have a story to tell about how the journey of Shuchi Man unfolded.
For now, that’s enough.
Oh, and one thing that does have a story behind it: Shuchi Man is named after two of the most loving women in my life — my mom and my aunt.
